Giorgi Gakharia - Special attention will be paid to the children, pensioners, elderly people, teachers, doctors, law enforcers and soldiers in the 2020 budget.
The 2020 budget will especially focus on children, retirees, elderly people, teachers, doctors, law enforcement and soldiers, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at today's special session of the government.
The topic of the government meeting is the draft state budget for 2020.
"Today we have an extraordinary government meeting, as we are working on the 2020 budget, which will be finalized today, after which we will present it to the Georgian Parliament. The budget is the result of the hard work of our entire team, reflecting the priorities that our entire political team relies on. In addition, the effective implementation of this budget will depend on the development of our country in 2020. The 2020 budget is a state-funded and economic development budget. This is a budget for more opportunities for our citizens. Therefore, we believe that it is based on the needs of citizens and, most importantly, it addresses the social responsibilities of the most important groups in our society. Above all, it is the children, our retirees, the well-to-do elderly, whom we have the greatest responsibility to care for. Of course, this budget will pay special attention to teachers, doctors, law enforcers and soldiers, ”Giorgi Gakharia said.
However, Gakharia says the basic principle of the budget is the basic needs of citizens.
“We believe that this is the social responsibility that the state should bear anyway. First and foremost, it is a citizen-focused, citizen-centric, and social responsibility budget. Also critical to the development of the economy are critical infrastructure projects that must contribute to increasing the efficiency of our economy. Effective budget management is important. There can be no compromise here, so all of the major responsibilities your ministries have with this budget must be fulfilled in a timely and effective manner. In addition, another critically important principle is to minimize bureaucratic spending, at least in a youthful manner and, where possible, effectively manage bureaucratic spending, ”Gakharia told members of the government.
As Gakharia noted, the party chairman was also involved in the creation of the budget.
“You all know that this was the first budget that we, the whole political team, worked on together. The head of the party, each member of the government, each lawmaker, all interested parties, as well as local government representatives participated in the creation of this budget. The budget is imbued with the spirit of making people's money more efficiently used by people. This is the spirit underlying this budget and it is our obligation to fulfill our citizens, ”Gakharia said.
