According to GUARDIAN.GE Foundation Cartu, a memorandum of understanding will be signed with Kutaisi International University and Iulich International Research Center within the framework of the presentation. A panel discussion will also be held.
According to the Cartu Foundation, the first phase of the 170,000-square-foot building is being built, which will include 3 study buildings, 3 student dormitories, a lecture hall for professors, a central library and a canteen, and the next two additional educational buildings To be built.
“The idea of establishing an international university for Kutaisi belongs to Bidzina Ivanishvili. The project, launched on September 8, 2016, is fully funded by the International Charity Cartu Foundation and its estimated budget is billions of euros.
For the first time since Georgia's independence, a new state university has been established. The educational space will be ready for the first stream of students in September 2020.
The Kutaisi International University model is developed in close collaboration with the Technical University of Munich. The University will be a state-of-the-art educational facility equipped with modern infrastructure and technologies that will provide high quality higher education to Georgian and foreign students.
Georgian and foreign academic staff will work in the new educational space. The University is already actively cooperating with the world's leading educational and scientific centers in the field of science.
Kutaisi International University will be a leading provider of science and education services, an international center of science and technology across the region. It will become an important component of Georgia's positioning in the international education space. University management system, educational directions, selection of researchers and lecturers will be in accordance with the management system of Technical University of Munich (TUM), with which Kutaisi University City has been cooperating since 2017.
In the first phase of the project, 170,000-square-foot buildings are being built, comprising 3 study buildings, 3 student dormitories, a residential building for professors, a central library and a canteen. In the following phases, two additional educational buildings will be built - a modern therapy center, a university clinic, laboratories and other research facilities.
Presentation of the new educational space is attended by Niko Chkhetiani, Founder of the Kutaisi International University, Chairman of the Board of the Cartu Foundation, Rector of the Kutaisi International University, Professor Aleko Tevzadze, Wolfgang Hermann, President of the Technical University of Munich Director of ITU, Professor Gernd Noymaier, Executive Vice President of IBA Group Sergei Lamisse, representatives of executive and legislative authorities, international organizations and diplomatic corps, educational circles and the public, "said the Cartu Foundation.
